Details
This program consists of courses in Multimedia/Web Design, Digital Publications, and Computer Information Systems. The courses within this program will prepare students to create multimedia (video, audio, animation) and professional web pages. Web browsing, multimedia on the Web, and writing code along with using multimedia and web design software will be emphasized throughout the program.
Students will have the opportunity to:
- Design, develop, print, and publish in-house publications for school-related activities
- Explore the editing, layout and design practices of print and digital media
- Develop digital photography skills
- Sell and design ads for publications
- Create and print 3D designs in our Digital Design Lab, using AutoCAD and/or other 3D software
- Utilize team building skills to foster working relationships to complete projects
Students enrolled in this program have the opportunity to compete at the regional, state and national levels in Business Professionals of America (BPA), which allows them to compete in contests such as Fundamentals of Web Design, Web Site Design Team, Graphic Design Promotion, Computer Network Technology, Computer Animation Team, Video Production Team, C++ Programming, Java Programming, among others, and to attend workshops, network with business students from around the country, and experience travel. Many WHS students have achieved national recognition in BPA.
The courses in this program are available to students in grades 10-12.
Prerequisites: All students must successfully complete an Information Management course.

- Students have the potential of earning college credits by achieving satisfactory scores on the College Level Examination Program exam (CLEP)

National College Credit Recommendation (Test required)
- Students have the potential of earning college credits by scoring 70% or better on the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) assessment for General Management
- Test is administered in the classroom during mid-spring semester to students at the end of their Finance and/or Business programs
- Over 1,500 colleges and universities accept NOCTI credit recommendations

- Microsoft Office Specialist 2016 - Access 2016, Excel and Excel Expert 2016, Word and Word Expert 2016, PowerPoint 2016, Outlook 2016, and Microsoft Office Master Specialist certifications
- Microsoft Technology Associate - Software Development Fundamentals, HTML5 Application Development Fundamentals, Introduction to Programming with Block-Based Programming Languages, Windows OS Fundamentals, Networking Fundamentals, Security Fundamentals, Mobility and Devices Fundamentals, Cloud Fundamentals, Database Fundamentals
- Adobe Certified Associate - Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Flash
- Testing in high school classroom via Certiport.com* - currently available at no cost to the student
*Credentials are nationally recognized, portable and stackable, which means students have the option of attaining more advanced credentials in the future
